WHAT’S MY ROLE?

Sensorberg is seeking a Design Lead to join us. In this role you'll be designing for our smart spaces ecosystem as well as coaching and growing our design team.
As a Design Lead at Sensorberg, you'll be a multi-disciplinary designer who's able to take a high-level approach to systems design backed by design thinking and service design. You will be as capable of breaking down UX / interaction problems as you are at setting the design vision for our client-facing mobile and web software or developing prototypes for user testing.

Design:

  • Design and prototype for a number of verticals, across a number of platforms (mobile, web, physical), with the ability to understand what constitutes success in each
  • Champion service design and design thinking both inside and outside Sensorberg, iterating on and measurably improving our service design process
  • Develop and deliver documentation, progress reports, and presentations that support our teams and clients

Team facing:

  • Work with Product Managers to establish user journey maps and turn these into a coherent design vision and roadmap for the design team
  • Establish processes and metrics for improving the practise of agile design at Sensorberg
  • Develop and iterate on design implementations alongside the design team
  • Coach and mentor less experienced designers in all aspects of service and UX design

Client facing:

  • Clarify and communicate a design vision of Sensorberg for clients and stakeholders
  • Work with clients to clarify their needs and to feed these back into the products' value proposition

WHAT SHOULD I BRING WITH ME?

(No designer can do everything. This isn't a list of hard requirements - even if some of these don't sound like you, please do still apply.)

  • You are an experienced designer who understands what it means to design a system for users with both physical, environmental, and software-based interaction points
  • You are able to communicate complex design challenges and to clearly present a coherent vision of solutions
  • You are passionate about designing for about user needs, user privacy, and accessibility when it comes to both software and physical systems
  • You are keen to level up your experience in service design and want to iterate and build on this discipline
  • You'll have a t-shaped skillset: a wide range of design experience, with a deeper experience and background from either mobile, web, or HCI
  • You're able to work with Product Managers to develop clear value propositions for various stakeholders across numerous verticals, and able to evolve these into designs based on a cohesive design system

Qualifications:

  • 5 - 9 years of professional design experience
  • Proven designs and experience of launched services that have been implemented in the real world
  • Some experience with design thinking/human-centered design
  • Ability to work within a self-directed culture and navigate ambiguity
  • Proven experience of leading and growing teams of designers

Preferred skills:

  • Experience with Sketch and Figma
  • Experience in designing for and around IoT products/services

THE JOB IS AWESOME BECAUSE

  • A long-term work relationship with a Startup that has found its product-market fit
  • Work insight into the real-estate sector. A traditional industry on the verge of disruption
  • Work actively to make better buildings for people and the planet
  • A collaborative team that is always ready to help when you hit a roadblock
  • Flexibility in deciding how you get your things done. We trust in you and don’t count hours or “butt-in-the-chair” time
  • All-inclusive workplace in our office in Berlin
