Coronavirus and coworking: list of cool apps to stay productive at home

In the light of Coronavirus/ Covid19 outbreak , many of us are working from home, which sometimes, proves to be a tough one. Between the feeling of being lonely and the many distractions that arise, how does one can remain focused, productive and connected to the world?

We've gathered below a few cool apps you can use while working remote or from home.

How to stay connected with members of your coworking space while working from home? If your coworking space uses Slack, you might keep chatting with everyone there but if you feel like seeing them, find below few tools you might want to try:

  • Dial up: Dial up is a voice-chat app that connects you serendipitously to the people you want to stay in touch with.
  • Zoom: Many of you might be familiar with Zoom already buut if you aren't, here is a great and reliable service for online calls, allowing you to have multiple people into one "room".
  • The clock: Having to set up calls with people and/or colleagues from multiple timezones can be a nightmare. Install The Clock on your browser, an app that easily converts different timezones

While things are slowing a bit down, it might be a good opportunity for you to finish things overdue and reorganize your work and desktop, making things work for you and not the other way around. Here are few of our favorites:

  • Leave me alone - unsubscribe from emails you don't want to get
  • Station - organize your tabs and apps all into one

Because of Coronavirus, some of you might be confined at home with the restriction to only go out for grocery shopping. If this is your case, you might feel like a rat in a cage ( so do I!) buuut the good news is, there are many apps that can help us all remain calm, productive and energized!

Good for our heads

You started working and suddenly too many things pop-up in your head? Try some of those apps to stay focused and calm:

  • Noisli - sound and chromatic therapy for when you work and relax.
  • Brain.fm - Looking to improve your focus? Try Brain.fm an app playing productive music for the brain
  • Headspace for work - Many of you might be familiar with Headspace already but did you know they launched meditation specifically targeted for work? Try one of their free program and see what is does for you.
  • Petit Bambou ( for French speakers only) - if you speak French and want to meditate in French, similar to Headspace for Work, try Petit Bambou, a great meditation app with multiple programs for work, sleep, training and more. It might also a good time for you to start learning French ;)

Good for our health Below a few apps to keep us healthy while working!

  • f.lux - an automated screen dimmer that adjusts your computer display according to the time of the day. Whether you are an early-bird or a late-nighter, flux has your back and makes sure your eyes do not get too tired.
  • SWEAT - working from home does not mean we can't exercise. With apps such as SWEAT, you can schedule in your day a 30-min workout with various levels and intensities depending on what you are looking for. If you are unsure whether it is for you or not, try their 7-day free trial and decide later.

Good for our productivity "So many things to do, so little time", you'll quickly realize that even working from home, your days are really short! Make the best out of them by using apps that help you stay productive throughout the day.

  • Toggl - An easy-to-use time tracker with which you'll finally be able to see what you spend most of your days on.

With the outbreak, you decided to start freelancing to make a bit of extra-money on the side? That's awesome! We've listed below a few platforms where you can promote yourself and get new opportunities:

  • Buy me a coffee - You might not find direct work but on buy me a coffee, people reward your work with the price of a coffee.

With so many apps popping up every day, it's tricky to stay on top of the latest trends. Check out our pick:

  • Once - a cool app for content creators on Instagram, we love the simplicity of use and all the cool stories you can create!

  • How I built this - a great podcast about innovators, entrepreneurs, idealists and the movements they built.
  • Note to self - a podcast that questions everything, from Is your phone watching you? or Can wexting make you smarter? or even Are your kids real?
  • Fresh Air - Hosted by Terry Gross, the podcast features in-depth conversations with guests from all different industries and backgrounds.

I certainly think it's not even limited to working from home, but the majority certainly can be used in the coworking spaces too! :)

You can also work productively at home outside of your official job. For example, you can edit video clips, and get good money for it. Personally, I edit videos in movavi https://www.movavi.com/videoeditor/ . This is because the design is very cool there, and the design is pleasing to the eye, and in general this program is suitable for both beginners and experienced editors.
