About the Role
WeWork is looking for a compliance professional to lead its Compliance team in EMEA. You will report to the Global Head of Compliance and be responsible for managing the EMEA Compliance team. The position is based in London and will support WeWork’s business throughout the region.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will be in charge of WeWork’s Compliance Program in EMEA. The responsibilities include identifying and reducing compliance and regulatory risk in the region; providing compliance advice and guidance to business units on a range of compliance and regulatory topics, including anti-corruption (including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and UK Bribery Act), sanctions, anti-money laundering, conflicts of interest, gifts & entertainment, as well as general ethics issues; working with attorneys and business leaders throughout the organization to monitor, track, and help manage our compliance and training goals.
Other Key Areas of Responsibility:
Manage compliance processes.
Work with regional compliance counsels globally.
Manage third-party compliance due diligence tailored to the Company’s evolving risk profile.
Advise on Conflicts of Interests, working with the Global Compliance team on executing WeWork’s disclosures process.
Collaborate with business stakeholders, including Legal, Finance, Shared Services, Human Resources, Internal Audit, Sales, Marketing, Comms and Product Development to advise on and enhance controls with respect to compliance-related issues.
Working with the Investigations team, monitor, supervise, and independently conduct internal investigations into potential violations of law and/or policy and other potential legal and regulatory issues
Help manage the Code of Conduct & Ethics and related compliance policies.
Create and deliver compliance & ethics training sessions and work with the Global Compliance team to develop compliance training strategy.
Work with the Global Compliance team to support the company’s Compliance Captains Program.
Participate and help to facilitate the global compliance risk assessments and conduct regional compliance risk assessments on an annual and ongoing basis and advise and implement additional controls and processes to address gaps.
Support certain company licensing efforts, such as alcohol licensing, as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of relevant experience (in-house experience highly preferred);
Fluent in English (required)
Legal degree and licensed as an attorney in jurisdiction of practice;
Ability to navigate and resolve novel issues within assigned areas. Identifies and escalates broader issues appropriately;
Ability to thrive in fast-paced and dynamic environments;
Strong track record for delivering results;
Hands-on project management experience, including the ability to manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous environments;
Sound and practical business judgment as well as common sense;
Team player and consensus builder with great people skills who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with attorneys and business clients at all levels throughout the organization;
Models key leadership attributes, influencing others to align with WeWork’s values; and
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization.
