For our London Locations we are looking for an Events Lead to manage our growing events business.

Techspace’s events are a critical component of our business delivered through our venue, The Loading Bay, in the heart of Shoreditch. They are a highly visible opportunity for us to demonstrate our brand values to our community and partners and position ourselves as leaders in our sector.

Reporting to the Head of Operations, UK, in Shoreditch, you will have a hospitality and customer centric mindset, enjoy meeting new people, and want to develop great relationships while having the ability to manage client expectations and prioritising your day effectively. Your role will encompass lead generation, sales, coordination and delivery and will cover external, member and partner events.

What you’ll be doing

  • Designing and delivering an experience. Working alongside the Head of Operations, UK, building the vision and strategy of our events space, The Loading Bay, and executing the plan to realise its potential.
  • Promoting and Coordinating. You will Promote awareness of the space, identifying and capitalising on new opportunities to build our community and generate revenue through the events space.You will be responsible for identifying acquisition channels and managing the pipeline of demand, identifying needs and requirements, coordinating and negotiating bookings and signing contracts.
  • Working alongside the Sales, Marketing and the Community teams you will schedule and coordinate events to ensure maximum bookings in the space.
  • Organise member events. You will assist in delivering Techspace's territory events calendar.
  • Preparation and troubleshooting. You will manage day-to-day operations and administration of the events space including setting up the space for day or evening events, handling ad-hoc requests and queries, dealing with invoices and gathering feedback. You will also handle stock & expenses and manage the relationship with the events suppliers & contractors.
  • You will ensure events are completed smoothly and resolve any problems that might occur or complaints that arise while ensuring excellent customer experience and meeting or exceeding budgeted sales and profits targets.
  • You will enjoy feeding in first-hand experiences into the wider team to help improve and grow the events business.
  • What you’ll bring

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, empathy for our members, passion and drive
  • 1-2 years of experience in coordinating events, event partners and suppliers
  • A sound customer service (or related) background
  • Previous experience working in sales, negotiating high-value contracts
  • Knowledge of the tech ecosystem (tech startup/ scale-up sector)
  • Ability to and willingness to get stuck in if required
  • Great written, verbal and listening skills
  • Brilliant organisational and time management skills
  • Computer literacy and ability to use administrative systems
  • High attention to detail
  • A can-do attitude and not afraid to get your hands dirty
  • Be willing to go the extra mile when required
  • Ability to work flexible hours and manage a varied schedule - events may start as early as 8am, or finish as late as 10pm. We expect several events to take place each week, the successful candidate will be present and oversee all events
  • Basic Graphic Design and photography skills are a plus
