Job Purpose:
This role will report to the Financial Accounting Manager and be instrumental in supporting the Finance Director and other business function heads with key decisions surrounding budgeting, cashflow forecasting and business analytics by providing detailed and insightful data. This role ensures accurate billing to customers and timely collection of funds from sales. They will own the purchase ledger end to end by fulfilling purchase requisitions through to payment. This role will support the Financial Accounting Manager in accurately recording all business transactions in the company accounts and producing a set of financial statements at year end.
This role may be suitable for an individual at the start of their accountancy career: previous incumbents of this position have been support via a Training contract, supported by Techspace to work towards achievement of professional accountancy qualifications.

- Trade debtor days (high performance= low debtor days)
- Number of outstanding purchase orders (high performance= few outstanding POs)
- Number of reconciling items in accounts system (high performance = few reconciling items)
- Number of days to complete month end closure procedures (high performance = less days to close)
- Accuracy of invoice coding
- Timeliness in completion of projects (e.g. audit deliverables)

Person Specification
We are looking for the following qualifications and skills in candidates:
Qualifications - Essential
- Maths and English GCSE (at Grade C / Level 4 or above)
Qualifications - Desirable
- Accountancy qualification
- Part qualified or be willing to train for an accounting qualification e.g. ATT, ACCA, CIMA
- Maths, Business A-levels, AAT or equivalent diploma / Level 3
Experience and Knowledge - successful experience and/or high level understanding of:
- VAT treatment
- working with accounting systems / Xero
- Accounting concepts: revenue recognition
- Accounting concepts: accrual
- IFRS and UK GAAP accounts
- Financial business ethics
Professional skills - essential to be able to evidence of the ability to:

- work productively (effective use of time, optimising output and contribution)
