So what are we looking for?… We need an experienced, ambitious Financial Controller to join our growing team.

The role will be pivotal to building on and developing a successful finance function at Work.Life, with exposure to and full operational ownership of all key finance processes. It is an opportunity to join a fast-paced rapidly growing business in an exciting industry and be a crucial leader in taking the brand to the next level.

Activities:

Oversee Day-to-day financial operations

  • Oversee external bookkeepers to complete day-to-day transactional accounting within the company, such as payroll and invoicing.
  • Manage Finance Assistant on accounts receivable to collect payments on time and on accounts payable to ensure payment runs on time
  • Manage cashflow appropriately
  • Manage Landlord relationships and landlord reporting required
  • Investor relations

  • Take ownership of debt schedules and bank/shareholder debt payments
  • Write monthly investor reports with Directors.
  • Reporting

  • Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual management reports
  • Liaise with accountants to ensure all statutory requirements are met for the company in preparation of the year end accounts
  • Budgeting & forecasting. Set semi-annual budgets with the team.
  • Track actual cash flow movements against budgeted cash flow movements and highlight any issues on a timely basis
  • Track the company’s financial status and performance against key indicators to identify areas for potential improvement
  • Business partnering

  • Meet with managers of each location on a monthly basis as part of month-end sign off and biweekly to support them in the financial management of their businesses.
  • Financial processes

  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes. Look for ways to continuously improve financial processes and controls.
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company
  • Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
  • Outcomes

    Your key objectives for the first 6 months in the role will be:

  • Develop a full understanding of existing financial processes in the business
  • Work to improve and further develop our month end process to ensure it is accurate and efficient.
  • Ensure the required controls are in place to keep budget owners working towards their agreed budgets
  • Help to drive cost efficiencies through the business, working with our operations team to reduce overheads
  • Develop good relationships with the rest of the business and become a trusted support mechanism for our managers in the business
  • Work with your Finance Assistant to build a strong finance function and to ensure transactional accounting is accurate and simple.

  • Ability to build strong internal relationships and manage departments internally. This is a sociable role, our finance team works with our business, not independently

  • Location

  • You will base yourself at one of our London space. The role will also involve travel across our London spaces and further afield as the business grows. We are opening our first northern space in Manchester in November.
