    Job Purpose

    The purpose of the Financial Controller is to oversee the financial operations & reporting requirements of the organization. This role ensures that Techspace can meet its obligations, by supervising the team that collects revenues, pays employees & suppliers, and reports accurate information to the key stakeholders including Management Team, Investors, and HMRC & German Tax authorities.

    This role will lead the team that is the central hub for anyone in the business who may have a Finance related query or request - they will be knowledgeable, helpful, and hands-on. The role will hold a key leadership role in the finance team and will have the opportunity to business partner with the executive team. A key component of this role will also be to oversee the delivery of significant capital projects in the UK & in Europe, primarily in Germany. Finally, a part of this role will be to support the Finance Director in progressing banking relationships, raising debt and to contribute in raising of additional growth capital via a new series of growth equity funding (Series C)

    Key tasks

  • Act as a key business partner to the executive & manage the Head office entity’s budget/forecast.
  • Oversee the Capital expenditure of new & existing projects and adequately forecast project & group cash flow over a 24-month horizon.
  • Own the development of the monthly management reporting suite & develop new reporting tools (Power BI etc) to drive insightful information.
  • Serve as the key technical resource for the Finance team in preparing management & financial accounts. This will require strong technical accounting knowledge.
  • Run the month-end variance analysis meeting – presenting the monthly results to the Finance Director.
  • Driving productivity across the Finance function by adopting best practices & automating manual tasks.
  • Owning relationships with outsourced Tax & accounting service providers.
  • Supervision of the payables and receivables function.
  • Supervision of regulatory obligations - ensuring filings and payments to HMRC and German equivalent for VAT, PAYE, and other taxes are done in a timely manner. Along with Companies House filings.
  • Direct line management of the Financial Reporting Manager & any Financial Accountants in the business - ensuring they have adequate support, coaching, and development.
  • Supervision of the payroll function including payroll and pension reconciliations, liaising with external payroll providers, and payment of salaries.
  • Supervision of the production of the year-end financial statements in accordance with IFRS. Ownership of the audit process and liaising with external auditors.
  • Ownership of insurance policies and relationship with external brokers and insurers.
  • Assist in improving, documenting, and monitoring internal controls.
  • Ad hoc projects for the wider business where required.
  • Serve as the Finance Director periodically due to absence/leave

  • Cashflow forecasting accuracy.
  • Number of days for the team to complete month-end closure (high performance = fewer days to close) No late payment or fines from regulatory authorities
  • Number of weeks to complete audit (high performance = fewer days to finalize)
  • Reduced sales debtor days
  • Minimal overspend through financial controlling measures
