makesense brings together and supports engaged citizens, passionate entrepreneurs and forward-looking organizations to collectively tackle today’s social and environmental issues.
We help different stakeholders unlock their potential to create positive impact through customized pathways of engagement. For citizens, we offer ways to learn and take action. For entrepreneurs, we offer programs to help strengthen their projects. For organizations, we offer programs to innovate and transform their practices.
In 7 years, we have supported 2,800 entrepreneurs, 35,000 citizens and 100 organizations.

makesense is developed by a team of 70+ people in 8 offices around the world: Paris, Mexico, Dakar, Manila, Beyrouth, Lima, Delhi and Abidjan.

Makesense has been in the Philippines for 4 years now. Thanks to our community of 200 volunteers in 6 cities of the Philippines and our full time team based in Manila, we have engaged more than 3,000 people to help social entrepreneurs solve key challenges, have supported the creation of 50 social enterprises and have accelerated the launching of 15 social innovations.

In 2019, makesense is scaling its programs to engage more Filipinos with social innovation. Our main objectives for 2019 are to:
1) Accelerate the launching of 15 new social startups thanks to our incubation & emergence programs
2) Grow our community from 6 to 15 chapters around the Philippines advocating for Sustainable Development Goals and social innovation
3) Advocate 1 million Filipinos about their opportunities to take action for the Sustainable Development Goals
4) Engage 2,000 people in helping the growth of social enterprises in their cities

To reach those objectives, makesense Philippines can count on its incredible full time team and community but… they cannot do everything by themselves…. this is why… they need YOU!

After a thorough training with the makesense Philippines team, you will be in charge of:

1)Supporting the coordination of events advocating for social innovation
Coordinate the logistics of events (including venue, registration, equipment, etc.)
Manage the online communication of the events (creation of event page in website, Facebook, and meetup platforms, invite and tag relevant individuals, increase online reach of event, etc.)
Support the organization of social entrepreneurship meetups through various and new strategies
Assist in liaison with speakers, moderators, and guests if needed in some makesense events

*2) Supporting the creation of social startups in Metro Manila thanks to the organization of Hackathons & bootcamps

Coordinate the logistics of workshops (including venue, registration, equipment, etc.)
Organize short-term programs enabling entrepreneurs to go from their idea to a proof of concept
Create tools & methodologies helping young entrepreneurs conceptualize their ideas
Facilitate social startup creation workshops

3) Assisting the makesense Community Developer in strengthening the community of makesense ambassadors all around the Philippines
Coordinate the organization of the national makesense ambassadors retreat with makesense volunteers
Recruit new volunteers thanks to events co-organized with universities, youth-based organizations, and relevant actors
Be open to travelling out of Metro Manila

What we are looking for

More than any specific skills, we are most of all looking for an individual passionate about - and who believes in - the power of citizen engagement, community building and social entrepreneurship! However, there are other skills and qualities that we believe would make an extremely strong candidate and that we’ll be looking for:

  • Fluent in English and Tagalog. Other Filipino languages an asset.
  • You're passionate about social entrepreneurship and want to be part of the change
  • Entrepreneurship and/or design & innovation are your favorite topics in university
  • Managing a project or organizing an event is like second nature for you -You have already made presentations and conducted talks in front of important audiences
  • You already created communication materials to promote events
  • You love learning and are excited to test, share, and learn constantly
  • You are organized and detail-oriented -You're autonomous but can easily report and synchronize with others
  • You are comfortable to work with an international, multi-cultural team
  • You are in your last year of studies (bachelor / masters)
  • Not mandatory but an asset: you master creative tools of photo and video editing (Adobe suite)
